Laurie Smigielski concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial litigation and employment matters in federal and state courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Laurie served as a judicial law clerk to The Honorable M. David Weisman, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and The Honorable Jorge L. Alonso, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Laurie also served as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General where she worked in the labor and civil prosecutions units. During this time, Laurie first-chaired several trials and administrative hearings, defended state agency decisions, and argued significant motions before the court.

Additionally, Laurie served as a judicial law clerk to The Honorable Paul P. Biebel, Jr. (ret.) and as a staff attorney for the Office of the Chief Judge, Circuit Court of Cook County, Criminal Law Division where she primarily worked on post-conviction matters.
