Derek Samz is a Partner in Golan Christie Taglia’s Reorganization & Bankruptcy Practice Group. Derek provides clients with practical legal advice regarding the necessary steps, inside and outside of a courtroom, to resolve legal issues in the most efficient manner possible. He represents businesses in contract negotiation and drafting, receivable collection and dispute resolution. He also specializes in representing financial institutions in mortgage foreclosure lawsuits, loan documentation and restructuring agreements.
Derek also represents debtors and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, with an emphasis on motion practice and litigation. He has represented consumer debtors in Chapter 7 and 13 proceedings, and commercial clients in Chapter 11 cases. Further, Derek assists commercial creditors with advice on bankruptcy matters, including motions to modify the automatic stay, filing proofs of claim, and objecting to entry of the discharge of particular debts.
Derek joined GCT in 2021. Prior to joining the Firm, Derek was a Senior Associate Attorney with DiMonte & Lizak.
