Robert Benjamin leads Golan Christie Taglia’s Reorganization & Bankruptcy Practice Group. Bob has more than 45 years of experience in bankruptcy matters, including business reorganizations, creditor remedies, and individual solvencies. Bob also offers substantial experience in complex litigation such as business disputes, shareholder derivative actions, mechanics liens and mortgage foreclosures. As a former member of the panel of Chapter 7 trustees, Bob helped develop forms and procedures still used by the Trustee program.
Bob concentrates his practice in the areas of:
- Business reorganizations, creditors’ remedies, individual insolvencies
- Complex litigation such as business disputes, shareholder derivative actions, mechanics liens, and mortgage foreclosures
Prior to joining GCT in 2010, Bob was a shareholder at Querrey & Harrow.

On April 21, 2022, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruled that City of Chicago parking tickets are judicial liens that can be avoided under Section 522(f) of the Bankruptcy Code. The ruling in City of Chicago v. Mance is the latest development in the series of decisions that have stemmed from the City’s aggressive tactics in collecting parking fines from drivers who file for bankruptcy.
