Brian T. Whitlock Explains Potential Issues with Buy-Sell Agreements Financed by Life Insurance

In a recent article in TAXES - The Tax Magazine from CCH Incorporated, Golan Christie Taglia attorney Brian T. Whitlock provided an overview of various types of Buy-Sell agreements and the special care that should be taken if an agreement is financed by life insurance, which many are.

The article, “Untaxingly Yours: Buy-Sell Agreements and Life Insurance – A Primer,” explained the importance of closely held businesses with two or more owners having a well-crafted Buy-Sell agreement.

A Buy-Sell agreement helps solidify the succession of ownership in the event of an emergency situation, prohibit transfers to competitors, mitigate conflict and power plays between owners and holders of equity and more.
