Barbara L. Yong to Retire in 2024 from GCT

March 1, 2023

Golan Christie Taglia congratulates longtime partner and friend Barbara L. Yong on her upcoming retirement. After 23 years as a valued partner at GCT, and with over 40 years of experience practicing law, Barb will officially retire from GCT in February 2024. In order to properly transition her work and provide the valued client service she is known for, Barb will serve GCT in an Of Counsel position until her official retirement.

Barb has focused her practice on civil litigation and bankruptcy, representing a large range of clients and handling cases from inception through trial and appeal. During her career, Barb has built a reputation for fiercely advocating for her clients. She has been known to always maintain a strong sense of professionalism and respect for opposing counsel.

Barb’s efforts have been instrumental in promoting a culture of collaboration and congeniality within GCT. Much of her professional career has been devoted to mentoring young attorneys and encouraging them to hone their legal skills and develop strong business relationships.

In addition to frequently speaking on bankruptcy, asset protection planning and equal pay for women and minority groups, Barb has been heavily involved in professional organizations and her community. She has served as the State President of the Illinois Federation of Business Women’s Clubs, the Secretary and Director of the Chicago Midwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, and more.

Barb also founded the Equal Pay Day Chicago coalition over 12 years ago, for which she was recently honored by having their annual scholarship placed in her name.
GCT celebrates Barb's many achievements and her longtime service and commitment to the practice of law, and we wish her the best as she prepares for her next chapter.
