Joy Mkrdichian is a Corporate Partner at Golan Christie Taglia. She concentrates her practice in the area of commercial real estate representing clients looking to acquire and divest properties throughout the Midwest.
Joy’s practice focuses on:
- Design and implementation of commercial real estate transactions
- Leasing and subleasing
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Representation of closely held businesses and business owners
- Structuring of new business ventures
- Corporate and individual tax issues
In addition, Joy has extensive experience working with clients in preparation and negotiation of commercial leases.
Clients turn to Joy for her innovative and effective skills managing the deal process and closing the deal. Her clients know that she advocates for their best interests. Joy believes the practice of law is not adversarial, but relational, which helps her to close deals and help her clients achieve their goals.
Prior to joining GCT in 2014, Joy was a Senior Associate in International Tax Services at PwC, Chicago, Illinois.
Joy lives in River North and spends her free time at East Bank Club and trying new restaurants throughout the city.

2020 was a difficult year. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the economy across all industries, especially real estate. As the lockdown extended well beyond initial expectations, commercial lending became virtually impossible to obtain given the instability of the market and lack of forecast ability. As a result, we saw a number of commercial real estate deals delayed indefinitely and eventually terminated. On the leasing side, we had tenants defaulting on their leases and asserting force majeure as a means of temporary rent relief. But, as 2020 dragged on and we learned to navigate the unprecedented time, we finally started to see a light at the end of the tunnel as we moved into 2021.Read More
