Illinois Supreme Court Justice Appoints Leynee Cruz Flores to Judicial Screening Committee
Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis announced GCT partner Leynee Cruz Flores will join her Judicial Screening Committee to fill key roles within the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Created to identify and assess candidates applying to the Office of Judge of the Circuit Court, the committee aims to select replacements for vacancies created by the retirements of Judge Joan O’Brien and Judge Sharon Sullivan.
The committee is comprised of a diverse group of attorneys and current and former judges. “It is important to have a diverse committee to reflect the community we serve. I welcome the new members and thank them for their service,” Justice Theis said.
As part of the screening committee, Leynee and fellow committee members will review potential candidates’ qualifications for the open positions, gather public input and information about the candidate, interview applicants and report their findings to the Illinois Supreme Court to help inform their decisions.
