The Illinois Supreme Court recently appointed Leynee Cruz Flores to its newly established Commission on Elder Law. Leynee will serve as a member of the Commission through December 2024.

The Commission on Elder Law comprises attorneys, judges, public guardians and nonprofit officers with significant experience in the field. The Commission was formed to serve Illinois seniors and residents with disabilities by improving state protections with an analysis of current state laws and developing policy recommendations to ensure due process.

As an appointed member, Leynee will collaborate with fellow members to make recommendations for Illinois policy and procedures, including Judicial Branch policies, Supreme Court Rules, the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct, guardianship proceedings and guardianship qualification requirements. Additionally, Leynee will review other states’ approaches to elder law issues and work in conjunction with the Illinois Mental Health Task Force to provide suggestions related to senior attorneys.
