Cook County Second Installment Tax Bills to be Sent Out November 14
November 13, 2025
Cook County has announced that its second installment property tax bills will be issued on November 14, with a payment deadline of December 15.
Traditionally, these bills are sent out in July with an August due date. However, a major overhaul of the County’s property tax system has caused significant delays. These delays have impacted both the issuance of the second installment tax bills and the issuance of any refunds from successful appeals filed at the Property Tax Appeal Board.
This delay has also caused significant fiscal challenges for local taxing districts. Certain municipalities, park districts, and school districts have been forced to seek out short-term loans. These loans have provided over $20 million from a Bridge Loan Program set up by the County to assist these districts during the delay.
Receiving a property tax bill during the holiday season can be difficult. While it is too late to appeal the 2024 taxes being paid with this second installment tax bill, there may still be time to prepare for 2025. Contact GCT today to explore your options regarding a potential appeal of the 2025 taxes due in 2026.
