Margaret Gisch Honored by Crain’s as a 2022 Notable Woman in Law

September 6, 2022

Golan Christie Taglia proudly announces that Margaret Gisch has been selected among Crain’s Notable Women in Law in 2022, reflecting her outstanding professional achievements and dedication to civic and mentoring activities. Published in the September issue of Crain’s Chicago Business, the annual award features an exclusive group of outstanding women legal leaders who have achieved success and demonstrated leadership while promoting other women in the legal industry.

Serving as GCT’s Litigation Practice Group Chair, Margaret leads clients through contentious litigation matters, providing valuable perspective and guidance to move cases toward favorable settlement or defend vigorously in trial. She regularly represents clients in their most critical matters including bet-the-company litigation, regarding trade secret and shareholder disputes, restrictive covenant litigation and defending employment claims. As one example highlighted in her profile in Crain’s, Margaret recently handled a series of COVID-related cases for a woman-owned business impacted severely by Illinois’ mandates, achieving successful rulings or favorable settlements for her client.

As a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Margaret has helped GCT grow and thrive through the pandemic while aiding clients to do the same. She helped ensure that GCT remains a diverse and inclusive workplace by placing particular emphasis on hiring and promoting talented and diverse women professionals and mentoring young lawyers as they navigate their careers. Her ability to foster career development and professional growth among her colleagues has helped the firm expand while creating an environment where all members feel valued and utilized. She demonstrates her commitment to advancing the careers of her peers through mentorship of numerous female attorneys, advocating for them to gain valuable client-facing experience early in their careers.

Margaret also stays active outside the firm by regularly speaking with students from her alma mater, Saint Mary’s College, and other schools across the Midwest, providing students a platform to discuss their aspirations while sharing advice on the best paths to consider as they accomplish their goals. Within her community, Margaret is also a proud contributor and fund raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Chicago chapter.
