Joe Trytten concentrates his practice in the areas of tax, trust, and estate planning; trust and estate administration and litigation; and tax matters. He joined Golan Christie Taglia in 2023 after earning a Master of Laws (“LLM”) with honors in taxation from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, IL.
Joe combines his tax background with his thorough understanding of Illinois and Louisiana trust and estates law to serve all of his clients, regardless of how simple or complex their estates are. In addition to creating estate plans and drafting complex legal documents, he assists current trustees and executors with their administration duties. Joe also assists with income and employment tax matters that affect currently operating businesses, and he represents taxpayers before the IRS.
Before earning his LLM in taxation, Joe worked in a wide array of litigation and regulatory practices in New Orleans, Louisiana. He represented maritime operators, construction contractors, government entities and small businesses in tort and contractual disputes in state and federal courts.
Joe earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 2019, where he was president of the school’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. He served on the editorial staff for the American Bar Association’s journal The Tax Lawyer while studying at Northwestern.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and he makes a hobby of building custom computers. He also plays flute and tenor saxophone in his neighborhood rock band “House Call.”
