Joe Trytten concentrates his practice in the areas of tax, trust, and estate planning; trust and estate administration and litigation; and tax matters. He joined Golan Christie Taglia in 2023 after earning a Master of Laws (“LLM”) with honors in taxation from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, IL.
Joe is a Vice Chair of the Estate and Gift Tax Committee of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trusts, and Estates Section. He is a regular panelist and speaker at the ABA’s National Continuing Legal Education Conference and on various online ABA CLE programs.
Joe combines his tax background with his thorough understanding of Illinois and Louisiana trust and estates law to help his clients meet their estate planning goals. He also assists current trustees and executors with their administration duties, helps businesses navigate income and employment tax issues, and represents taxpayers before the IRS.
Before earning his LLM in taxation, Joe worked in a wide array of litigation and regulatory practices in New Orleans, Louisiana. He represented maritime operators, construction contractors, government entities and small businesses in tort and contractual disputes in state and federal courts.
Joe earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 2019, where he was president of the school’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. He served on the editorial staff for the American Bar Association’s journal The Tax Lawyer while studying at Northwestern.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and he makes a hobby of building custom computers. He also plays flute and tenor saxophone in his neighborhood rock band “House Call.”
