Hundreds of Thousands of Tax Dollars Saved for Central Illinois Bank

CHALLENGE
A locally owned, central Illinois bank with over 50 branch facilities and ATMs statewide sought to reduce their property tax burden; however, bank officials faced the difficulty of navigating the appeal system where deadlines for filing appeals and practice rules vary county by county.

OUR STRATEGY
GCT attorneys were able to assist the bank by initiating a comprehensive approach that included: reviewing each property’s assessment history; performing an in-depth marketplace analysis of the banking industry in each designated region of the state; and, where appropriate, filing appeals with local assessment officials and submitting credible evidence to demonstrate that the select locations were overvalued.

RESULTS
Assessment reductions were won in Bureau, Champaign, LaSalle, Kendall, McLean, Sangamon, Tazewell, Will and Woodford counties.
