Derrick Loving concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial and business litigation, estate and trust litigation and bankruptcy. He joined Golan Christie Taglia in 2023 as an associate after working as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Derrick advocates for the rights and interests of debtors and creditors in bankruptcy cases and aids trustees and beneficiaries of trusts when litigation arises.

Prior to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Derrick worked as a law clerk for various firms across the United States where he prepared memoranda and court filings on various bankruptcy, trust and estate and litigation matters.

Derrick is an active member in the legal community and has given presentations through the Chicago chapter of Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) on topics such as student loans, budgeting and saving and bankruptcy.

Derrick earned his J.D. at The University of Alabama School of Law in 2021, where he was the managing editor of The Journal of the Legal Profession and a member of the Black Law Students Association.

Outside of work, Derrick enjoys exercising, cooking and traveling, along with playing and watching basketball (especially his beloved Milwaukee Bucks).
