Jonathan Morton is the Co-Chair of the Estate Planning & Taxation Practice Group at Golan Christie Taglia.
Jon concentrates his practice in the areas of:

- Complex Estate, Trust & Guardianship Litigation
- Estate Planning, including: Tax Planning, Asset Protection, Digital Asset Disbursement, Succession Planning, Genetic Material Disposition, and Special Needs Planning
- IRS Controversy, including: Audit Defense, Offers in Compromise, and Installment Agreements
Jon regularly counsels clients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, including the death or severe injury of loved ones. He represents both fiduciaries and beneficiaries in estate and trust administration. Jon is no stranger to the courtroom, with experience ranging from the defense and prosecution of will and trust contests, citations to recover assets and contested guardianship matters. Jon is adept at helping families navigate difficult circumstances, which frequently involves disputes between the immediate family itself.
Jon’s estate planning practice focuses on all aspects of estate planning from special needs planning to asset protection to complex tax planning. Jon’s Florida license also allows him to assist clients who choose to split their time between Illinois and Florida.
In his guardianship practice, Jon regularly represents court-appointed guardians of both disabled adults and minors, and counsels his clients on always pursuing the best interests of the Court’s ward.
Jon joined GCT in 2016 and was promoted to partner in 2020. Prior to joining the firm, Jon was an Associate at Di Monte & Lizak, LLC where he focused his practice on estate planning and administration and tax planning.
